Your original question "How to get the obscenely best deal".Well that will usually only happen if theres more supply than demand. First I would find market value, not just blue book but finding as many similar cars for sale, call on them and learn as much as you can about the used car and if they were sold, find out for how much. Find out all the options this car had available and what ever it does not have, means a slightly lower offer. In order to get the best deal they will have to want to sell it a lot more than you want to buy it. Now its just a matter of finding out how bad do they want to sell and dealers are usually good bluffers. Give them your lowest offer if they do not except, leave your phone number encase they change there mind. Sometimes at the end of the month they want that last sale to make quota. If possible try to deal with a manager from feet or someone else that might not work off commission. If you do not get a call back go back and offer a little more. Never offer more in the same visit because then to them its just a matter of how long can they keep you there. This is what has worked for me in the past but then again I want the best deal even more than I want the car. Good luck and If it makes you happy and your not neglecting other responsibilities go for it at any cost you can afford.

Offer 75,000 and go from there.  Sure, you won't get it for that, but that is the name of the game.  Hell, it's a used car.

Personally, i'd give anywhere 85000 to 88000.
I feel its worth that.

Well, you should do what you want. I'd be inclined to find an '04-'05 SL600, for about the same money.

Twin-turbo V-12.

Do some research, SD.  While the SL600 isn't an "AMG" model, it makes the same 493hp, but 590tq vs. the 55k motor's 516.  On the TTV12 SL600, you're just a "chip" away from more HP and stupid TQ.

Does it have the pano roof? if it does i would be interested in it if you dont take it.

The Panoramic roof is a glass panel built into the retracting hardtop.  It makes the interior feel much more roomy, IMO.  Here's a pic from my SL...




I have a Pano roof in my E55, too.  Definately a recommended option if you're shopping for a used SL.

Look around on autotrader, Ebay and brokers (as BBB mentioned).  You can get that car for a lot less than what they're asking.  If you really want an SL55, they're out there and cheaper.
