03 Hayabusa vs. 06 GSXR1000 - 1/4 mile... Who???

My mods: K&N, full Yoshi RS3, PC3, lowered 1.25"

His mods: full TiForce, PC3

It's just a fun race with someone at work, we both talk smack about being faster.  Well, with other employees egging us on, figured we'd line 'em up for fun in front of everyone......on a closed road, of course.  I don't claim to be the best drag racer by any means, just a moderate racer.  He claims he's extremely hard in the cornering, no mention of straight line.  But we're gonna 1/4 mile it and see who's faster...  Do I have a chance??

you have a chance if you are a good/light rider and he has trouble keeping the front end down,  im thinking you won't catch him though.

don't do a 40 roll  :shock:

I'm 40lbs lighter than him.  I think he'll have a hard time keeping it down, where as I can pin the throttle.   I'm thinking maybe a trip to the track Saturday would be a better choice.  Sticker ground and I've been wanting to make a few passes anyways... :)  I'll see if he's up for that.

Pick a spot about 15 feet in front of you on the ground. Bring up the rpm's around 4k, and let the clutch out just enough so you can feel it starting to pull a little.

When you get the go, simultaneously let the clutch out and roll WOT *before* you pass the marker that you chose above. Make sure you let the clutch out, and full WOT as soon as you can.

With a half decent launch, you can take a 1000 that'll have it's wheel in the air anyway. A hard launch with the low end power and weight will win this race, but, like above, if you bog the launcy, you're toast.

And clutchless shift.

Thanks for the tips!  i'm waiting on my gauges to come back from blueguages.com so I can't race him yet...  They've been shipped out so hopefully by this weekend we'll line them up....even better if at the track!  I'll get some praticing in before that, that's for sure!  It's all for fun and we talk smack to each other fun, but hell I wanna win!! :)  We'll have a camera out there hopefully so I'll even be able to post some video...win or lose.

 I'm going to the track Saturday for sure, so worst case if he doesn't go I'll get some serious practicing in! :)

Now he won't line up from a dead dig.  Gotta be on a roll.  he's worried about his paper clutches, I just said he should have bought a "real" bike.  :lol:

Only from a roll....   :shock:  If we're gonna do it, we'll do it all.  From a stop, roll and 100+.  Or just go to the track and settle like a real man. :)

I have both bikes, but they are 2002 models.

Bottom line:  If you're 40lbs lighter, you probably will spank him.

A good rider on a 1000 will spank an average rider on a Busa.  Don't take a 1000 lightly - they are no joke.

nope,  buddy of mine runs all the time at the track with his 05 gsxr 1k.  filter and a bolt on can,  stock height runs 6.8-6.9 1/8th on a bad day.

this guy just wants you to run his race,  you go for it and he will get you.  with the power his bike has you will not catch him till after 170 or more.  30-40 roll will be his.  you'd stand a better chance running a 60 or higher roll. 

make him feel like a sissy for not being able to launch his bike,  call him out on it infront of others  :lol:

At 60mph the Busa is almost done in 1st and the gixxer is in it's meat.  But at 30-40 the TQ of the Busa shines.  Most of it is rider skill.    :thumb:

If we're to line up, we gotta go from a stop.  If 40+ rolls is his game, we gotta play mine too! Hell, it's only fair! :)  I'm gonna push him whinning about paper clutches... he'll line up eventually. :)

Paper clutches my ass. Tell him to do a 150 mph roll on then you will see what a sissy he is. With a good rider on the 1000 and a poor rider on the Busa the 1000 will probably win. With equal ruiders it will be close but the Busa should win. Put a 16 tooth front sprocket on the Busa.

IF THE 1000 IS SITTING HIGH YOU WILL OUT RUN HIM BUT IF IT IS LOWERED WITH A GEAR ON THE FRONT AND HE CAN RIDE A LITTLE YOU BETTER WATCH OUT BUT GOOD LUCK HOPE YOU OUT RUN HIM.

Well, I went to the drag strip, he never showed.  First time on the busa at the track, went 10.4 @ 136.  It had more, just never had time enough to bring the revs up where I wanted before the green light.

I've been giving him crap about paper clutches and others too.  I think he'll eventually line up... ya know when he has the ***** to! :)

After going to the strip and seeing how well that back tire stuck, I'd like to drop a tooth in the front.  Might be something to do over the winter. :)  And it's cheap too!

Just curious, any idea what I "could" get with some practice?  I'd like to think 9s is possible as it sits, but .5 second is alot at that speed! :)

Dump the air horns and the extra lights and you may get 9's from weight savings. Just kidding, try the 16 tooth front sprocket. Just go to the strip and spend some time in the seat,  it will get better. Have some fun and go fast without blue lights behind you.
