Here I was on my way to a poker run last Sat me and my girl and another friend on a kaw. We were cruzing about 95 or so. Then all of a sudden, shooting past me like I was standing still was this BLACK VIPER. I quickly tap my girl legs, She leans and buries her face n my back, "like I taught her" and off I went. My buddy slowly became very tiny in my mirror. I creap on this BLACK VIPER n a matter of seconds. 1 1/2 car behind..Ready to make my move on the out side and saw a few slow pokes up ahead. As I didn't want to I eased off the throttle and slowly backed away to give him time to slow down. I was my chance to see about this viper and busa thing. My thunder was stolen in my seconds of waving at this "BLACK VIPER" GOOD BY.............oh by the way the last time i glanced at my speedo just passed 152... Maybe next time I'll bring him to the darkside...

I'm sure you would have killed the "stock" viper and cried "victory".. However, that stock viper will beat you top end all day long if your stock or slightly modified on your 'Busa. GTS's,  stock,  have topped out at verified 192mph in Car and Driver articles and tests.....

*Stock* Busa:

196  mph - Bikenet

191.6 mph - Superwheels

192.4 mph - SportRider Mag

194 mph - CycleWorld

196 mph - SuperBike Mag

All verified of course.

So what's the problem?!

Doubt you could hit those speeds with 2-up riding ... no matter how far she had her head in your back.

I don't ride two up.                 (VERY rarely at least - my kids get a ride now and then!)

I only know of one publication that ever tried running 2-up (Superbike) and they easily shattered the British record of 171 mph on the first (and only) try.  They were just playin' around after running 196 mph solo ....

I dont know about top end, I got 195 last week. That was around 10 k rpm in 6th. I think it will do an indicated 205 maybe with more than a half mile straight that I used for the 195 blast. I dont know if a viper has enough steam to pull past 190 stock, and to even attain 190 would require what a 1.5 to 2. mile straight?

Gerald

Yea but how long would it take to catch back up?
Gaining at a  rate that slim (between the two)
would take a pretty good stretch of road.

oh yeah they use 2.5-5 mile ovals to get those speeds out of the vipers. not 1.5 mile straights like the bikes.

A mile and a half? I measured the strip from start to finish and it was around half a mile. I rounded a bend and my starting speed was 100mph in 3rd gear at the beginning but neverless I still got 195 within that half a mile. How much space is needed to get 100 from a dead stop? I know my bike does 114 in the 8th......

99 motor, muzzy header, pc2, yosh cams, 4 short stacks, small airbox mod, pair removed, dynoed 180 at the wheel, stock gearing.

The '99-'00, bikes were unrestricted.

The '01-'03, are restricted. But like SteveA said, all you need is a 10 cent, 6.8k ohm resistor, solder in between the correct wires, and no more restriction.

Maybe My girl wanted me to run
A matter of fact..in detail she pointed him out as he went screaming by. And my bike is semi stock so reach those speeds in not a prob.. with her wt 125ish and me 180ish,,yes it would have took the effort. But you forget what we all ride Hayabusa's not R1's... I'll leave it at that..
