ET times.....fairly new to dragracing!
« on: December 14, 2006, 02:06:12 PM »
I have an 06 1000, ran it twice this fall.....ET was just okay.    I'm 220 suited and just put a 16T front and 6" arm on, what would a good rider at 220lbs run with it?  (everything else stock)   Thinking of putting Brock's performance street meg and power  commander on......hey where do I find a new chain guard with the longer wheelbase?  Thanks for any help or opinions anyone can give!

Id say u would be in the 6.4-6.6 range in the 8th which should be good for low 10's high 9's....personally after riding a buddies 05 that is stretched and just -1 down in the front..id reccommmend atleast....+3 - +5 on the rear. Being stretched u can leave on it alot harder than a stock wheelbase bike hence u can run more gear. it will also keep it in the higher rpms and wont drop as much when u do shift. I had a full arata ti system on my bike and recently switched to the brock megaphone system and ran a new best first time back out with it. went a 6.28@122.8mph.vs 6.34@120.00  in the 8th..havent tested yet in the 1/4..and im around 185-195 suited. my bike is stock wheelbase..set up for ama prostar 1000ss class. good luck at the track..be sure to give the clutches time to cool for best results..i usually use the rubber o-ring for the tool pack to hold the clutch lever in and pull the oil fill cap off as well as the center removable piece from the clutch cover. at the prostar races we use air matress pumps to cool them off. do all the above and let it blow down on the clutches thru the oil fill cap hole..dont mean to ramble on ..just giving u some pointers...

P.S. alot of guys with the 05/06 1k's run 2 power commanders...one for each set of injectors.

bottlefed..I would think the plates will warp easier when/left pulled open to cool??

keep slack in the adjustment is also a good idea lots of gear and heavy duty springs..

Clutch question.........did you drill any holes in your case? Do you use stock plates, and is it beneficial to dremel the slots in the fibers wider? (used to do that in the old days with the Cir-Cycle plates)

No holes drilled in basket, but heard of people doing it..I wouldn't make the slots?? bigger might weaken the area of contact..I only use OEM plates/steels with heavy-duty springs but had a Buddie with a 1k and He went threw tons of OEM packs and said that Barnett lasted longer??..But I like oem Myself and have had great luck on the 1k and My busa using them..

No air box mods that I know of on the gixxers..stacks are OEM from a 750,04 are flush and older 750,s are a ittle taller..there pretty cheap like $40 or lees for all 4 shorts..

You will be running 9.60's soon with an arm and practice.  Keep it up - you may even see 9.40's soon.

9.50s is my goal for 2007.  The bike is now 62" -1+3, Brock street meg, pc, HD clutch springs, lowered, and short stacks.  Can't wait til spring?   Oh-yeah hopefully I'll be 20lbs lighter...........I wish I was a jockey!!!!!
