06 1000 gearing question
« on: January 09, 2007, 04:34:33 PM »
I have an 06 1000, extended 6" 16T, pc, and header.......I'm 220 suited, should I go +3, +4 in the back?  Anyone have numbers as far as ET goes for gearing?  Thanks for any info in advance.

I just have heavy springs, but heard the cushion was good..just make sure theres always play in the clucth before/after making a pass..

thats were the gearing helps a ton,When My bike had stock gear I went threw a set of clutches after only 3 passes!!

+1, :thumb: Great advice.

On 05-06 1k if the bike is going to be strictly a drag bike.....I would remove Three (3) limiter transfer push pins for the back torque limiter and add HD springs and tenth steel plate to pack.
This Steel would be the first plate installed in basket even before 2 thinner spring washers, then install
the rest as usual.
One more thing would be drilling out 3 extra holes in hub along with what" ERACER" said......clutches last lots longer this way,IMHO

Thanks a lot for the info.....do you guys use 750 stacks, if so where can I get some?   Just looking for some cheaper power increases for now, my wife is starting to dislike my bike.    Baby-steps is my theory for right now.

Will a 16Tooth for a busa fit on the front of a 05 Gsxr 1000? Are the spines the same? I guess I can run in my closet in check.

Well I'm kinda torn, I'll give you some nubers.........I'm 220 suited, last year the bike was stock, the best I ran was 10.27  1.62 60f.  Now have Brock Meg, PC, and 62" wb.   I do not want to put an air shifer on, maybe I'm thinking into this too much, worse case, I buy another rear sprocket.  Thanks for all of your help.
