Well then, just exactly how far off are they at 180? Since Gps isn't perfectly accurate, and we know that these speed sensor driven speedos are closer then they used to be, tell me how far off they are then??

like i said before.. I think the TLR is a great bike, maybe not the fastest or quickest and certainly wants the lightest, but for how i was riding at that time, it was the best for "ME".. does anything else really matter?
I could only get the TL to read 172ish on the spedo.. but then again, im a fat ass!

They read up to 10% high.  5% is a pretty common number.

Funny thing is that the odometers are usually fairly accurate.

Isn't that strange that both bikes were reading the same speed as we cruised a fourlane together?
It wasn't a case of taking it up to speed, and backing off, we maintained it for miles!
I find it hard to believe that they could both be off exactly the same amount!
I would bet that they are closer then you think, because I remember when the Busa came out, and they would indicate 197 as being top speed, and didn't the radar indicate it as well??
So even if it is off, getting back to the TL, lets say 170 then, thats a hell of a feat for a V-twin!
Hell harley dreams about 140 with the shit they spew out for bikes! (Buell included!)

My opinion is that the error is there intentionally.  If it were manufacturing error, then the odometer would be off the same amount as the speedo.  So, two Suzukis having the same error is very reasonable.

BTW, a TL1000R makes under 120HP stock and is lucky to get into the upper 120's with a good pipe.  I'd be surprised if it could hit 170mph without some help like a tailwind.  An R1 can barely hit 170.

Im not talkin that a TL is a Busa eater whatsoever, Im just stickin up for it, that its a great bike to ride, and it never got the recognition its so deserved!
I think its a great bike for a V-Twin, and its too bad that its not givin much credit!
Thats the only point Ive been TRYING to make!

Speedos are positively off-I've had my '03 on the limiter four times now,and it hits the peg at 185 long before the tach stops climbing.
Meanwhile,back on the tuna boat.....
