I'm turning a street bike into a track bike. I'ld like for it to run about 5.50 .
What are some things i need to do to get it set up to run 5.50 ? What kind of set up ? Thanks !

Track only use? A slick, 67-70" wheelbase and a slider clutch will get you a long way. :thumb:
-
What size motor? If 1397 a slick, slider, and 68" wheelbase will do that all day long. :thumb:
-
lighten the bike as much as possible, at least a 3-9 over swingarm and nitrous, good tire, set up suspension, revalved shock and forks
-
:trb:

head and cams and a dry shot with some vp fuel would do it and be streetable

If you don't want to go into the motor ?
Or your not that good of a rider ?
Then put a bar & a slick on it.
That with a unit will do it.
Just spray it a little . . .

K, I'ld like to try it on a dot tire. And a hand clutch. The bike is gonna be 66" long, and low as can be. :thumb:

you can do it with a hand clutch. Your launches are going to be hard a stock clutch.

yea, I'm thinking about a two stage lockup .

Always concentrate on chassis set-up 1st ..... then add power later. You'd be surprised what a good stock motor Busa can do IF it is set-up to USE IT'S POWER CORRECTLY.
So many people do it the opposite way and end up fighting the bike for the 1st 330 feet .....
Front half numbers are WHAT MAKES YOU or BREAKS YOU
Good luck, be safe

1) Good quality swingarm, better if its adjustable, 3-9 over would be best overall
2) get your forks cut down. Eddie Krawiec did mine, Macintosh, DME ..... they all do well.
3) get a good shock or have yours redone, again, Eddie Krawiec can do it
4) low-profile oil pan with swivel pick up
5) sidewinder
6) air shifter
7) good tire: Shinko, Mickey .....
The above-mentioned items will allow you to slam the bike (2-3") off the ground. The wheelbase, shock and tire nwill allow you to basically lock that throttle and throw that clutch. The shock / tire combo will glue the bike well for the front half of the track.
After 23 years in this game, that is the best advice I can give.
After the bike is working well in the front 1/2, THEN go back & add power later.
Good luck, Happy Holidays
