Are you running NO2 with the turbo or is that CO2 for the airshifter? Is that the stock air filter that comes with the ghetto stage 1? how long is your arm? I'm in the middle of a similar build.

using Nitrogen for the shifter and the boost controller, the airfilter is an aftermarket KnN filter I found on their web site, that was a 10" over arm.

I missed too many days of work this month and messed up my cash flow.
We're moving to Georgia as soon as we sell our house (been on the market since January). So maybe I'll see you at Maxton sometime???
Congrats on the run! Wish I could have seen it in person!

Look at my new tire and spark plugs after 2 miles of use. Tire looks a lot worse in person! There's 2" of clearance with me on the bike, Shock all the way tight, spring tightened up approximately 1/2" more. I say It's time for a shock and spring.

ok I just read this post from start to finish and you have done a very good job with this bike. Keep up the work. Looks good! :thumb: What caused the problems this time. It wasn't really clear in the reading. I see you now have a stand alone system. Did it detenate on you and tear up the valves and pistons? If so how much boost where you running when it did? Just curious. Keep up the goos work though! :thumb:
-
Thanks, I did not pull any timing on a top speed run. Boost was at 32 lbs. It's a piggy back system though. Never stop learning with these things :D

Went to the track for the first time in over 1 1/2 years. 1st run 8.6@182, 2nd run 8.4@188, 3rd run 8.95@208(FLUKE), 4th run 8.4@189.
60's were horrible!! I was gun shy and not ashamed to admit it. 3 1/2 ground clearance w/2" pan. Stock trees, 66" with a old shinko ultra soft.
It was fun though

1/2" offset clamps by Machine Works, stock offset is 1.25"

puts 40 more pounds on the front tire :thumb:

Do you know how much further back the center of the wheel will sit?
-
puts 40 more pounds on the front tire :thumb:
Really! Good info to know! :thumb:
Cory, If you are thinking about offset clamps, just make sure you have enough adjustment in your arm to move the rear back to keep the same wheelbase you have now or the extra weight on the front won't help to keep the front down.
-

Good point.
In my sig pic is a 43T sprocket. Just put a 46T on there and I gained about an inch to go back with. Could put a 48 and gain a little too.
Still gotta fix the tranny and get it tuned in before I think about doing any of this. :D
I just like living my racing dreams through Tom! :thumb:

 that's funny, I'm just trying to race more than a couple times a year.

From the way my cash flow is going, that'll be a couple more times than me this year! :(
-
DAYUUMMMM..... Christmas must have been good at the TrickTom residence this year...... :bah:
Tommy, that offset lower clamp, does that bring the wheel in or out?(like more radiator clearance or more wheelbase with the arm?)
Big dollar wheels to? SHIIIIITTTTT.... Thats a gawt damn race bike right thurrr.... :thumb:
-
You funny, that's an old Honda 16" wheel, and the 1/2" offset trees which bring the wheel in 3/4" (dragracing)
-
(http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c388/tricktom1/Wheel.jpg)
Hi Tom,
I saw your new 16" wheel for the Busa. I think its a rim of an "old" Honda Fireblade. It looks nice.
What kind of modifications do you have to do?
Did you have any problems with the brake rotors or the axle?
Sorry, Ive no idea with 16" wheels for a Busa. :?
Mike
-
Yup.....its an old cbr wheel....
Just need to make or buy a custom axle......there's a few that make them already.....
If you get the later model 16" wheel the rotors are just a tad shorter than the busa's ........
Might have to shim the calipers a tiny bit, but other than that its a pretty easy mod.....
:thumb:
-
Nem nailed it :thumb:

:D
-
wtf.....
Looks as bad as mine..... :D

Don't worry about what others have.. if it's what you like go for it... if you want it to stand out some then add something to contrast it with..
Can't wait to see it when the transformation is complete...

How much clearance is there at the front bottom?
What color will you paint it?
Bill
-
It's sitting to low right now, it will be black.
-
nice work Tom, keep the pics coming , Jody
-
Thanks Jody, everything is at powdercoat and bodywork is with the painter, working on the head and waiting on the cylinders, new studs, head gasket to get here next week. Hopefully be posting pix of the rolling chassis next weekend :thumb:
-
Motor tore apart for big stud machining.
I bought some 1000 lower fork halves and radial calipers to use with the busa uppers. I had to do some drilling and reaming to the 1000 lowers to work with the busa internal cartridges. Also had a machines bore out one of the 1000 lowers so that the busa axle would work. Now I need to have a spacer made for the axle nut sleeve, get some caliper spacers from Speedy... And space the rotors out from the wheels .090" on each side.
Pain in the arse!
-
Bike is coming along nice Tommy... :thumb:
When we dynoing it? :D
Mike upgrade his software yet?

Holy sh\t, I just read through the whole thread and it is like reading a book. There is excitement, love, tragedy, horror, happiness, sadness, ups, and downs and everything else you can throw in there.
I'm a newbie to the site but man you know how to build a bike. Good job, and keep it up man! :thumb:

Hey Tom,
Looks like its coming along very nicely.
I do have a few questions:
What are you doing in the last pic with the sockets on the block?
Did you cc your motor? info on that.
what pistons? how far in the hole with what base gasket @TDC?
Can you tell I wish I was building something
Bill
-
:thumb:
looks good
-
Thanks guys, just checking the deck height. I surfaced the cylinder and head after opening the holes up. With .080" spacer and .015" base gasket it's .007" in the hole like that.
-
:D
-
Paint still needs to be wet sanded and buffed and the inside of the fairing still needs to be sprayed with black rattle can.

That's what I'm talkin about Tommy boy.... RIDE that bitch....it's what they're for......ofcourse you can't go far with a 1 gal tank but.....lol...she's rideable... :thumb:
-
LOL, it's still 3/4 capacity :thumb:
-
do you ride it on the street with c-16 or just baby it with 93 octane?
-
87
-
Do you change the map or just run 87 on the c16 map on the street?
-
It runs on the stock ecu while not in boost. The Microtech has it's own map sensor and adds fuel when it sees boost :thumb:
-
It's called AMS 1000. :thumb:
A turbos best friend. :D
-
Thats good to know. I was told by a tuner that I would have to buy 2 power commanders and have two separate maps. What you say makes since though.
-
Dont use that tuner!
-
I have a AMS-1000. I wanted the bike mapped up to 25lbs on c-16 and be able to turn it down to 6lbs on pump gas. Is that possible.
-
Tune the map for both fuels, at the psi's you want to run them. :thumb:
-
so, i need 2 maps?
-
Nope, just one map. :thumb:
If you're running 25#w/c16 at the strip, you wont be at 6# long enough for the "6# street tune to pump gas" to make a difference.
And vica-versa for the street. Tune 93 at 6# and you're good, you'll just be confined to 6#'s on the street, if you're cool with that.
This is just what I would do on my bike. And I log and double check my tunes ALL the time. If you or whom ever tunes your bike feels comfortable with 2 different maps, go for it. :thumb: :D
-
Id rather have one map but my tuner insists on 2 maps or mapped on just one boost level. i want the best of both worlds. i want to be able to run the bike at low boost on the street and run it on multiple boost levels on the track.
-

Are you using the PCIII with the hub and map switch? If so, how is that working for you? I thought about using one for my next project.
-
Im not using the hub switch. I have a pc3R..not the USB. My tuner wants me to buy the pc usb and the hub. I dont want to spend money twice though.

Thats good to know. I was told by a tuner that I would have to buy 2 power commanders and have two separate maps. What you say makes since though.
Maybe he was referring to one hooked up conventionally and one hooked in series but to a MAP sensor rather than the tps...been done before...
-
Where the turbo? RCC not make a kit for it?
:D

with 14/52 sprockets it's fun like it is :D

Tom, you're such a crazy guy :thumb: :D
Have fun with that bike....
BTW: I had 2 KTM LC4 in the past years. Damn, I rode with them like an asshole on the streets :hys:
-
They're lots of fun, something to do in the off season and it keeps your reflexes in check blasting on it doing things that you can't do on the street :thumb:

why not just flash the ecu with 2 different map and a switch to select between the two, cheaper and not too difficult to do...i do that now with my setup. :thumb:

good idea :thumb:
-
Will a tuner be able to follow that though? I went with the pc/ hub combo only because thats what my tuner is familiar with and what he recommends. My ecu is already flashed for the basics......pull timing, extend rev limiter, and delete top speed restricter
-
In that case go with what he recommends, you can always go the ecu route later, :thumb:
-
Is this the ECU program that Greg sells? I didnt know you could program 2 maps in it
-
Is this the ECU program that Greg sells? I didnt know you could program 2 maps in it
yes! that one, and yes you can save two different fuel/ignition maps and use a switch to select between the two i recommended you go that route because its cheaper and much more efficient and a better way to tune the bike, i use romraider a little more complex than ecu editor to tune my ecu, and its very responsive to the tune; over two years and now issues to date i also use the ecu shifter function and a power shifter with no issues. :thumb:
-
Id like to get more info on that. What other items would I have to buy to self tune it?
-
Besides the programmer you would need a way to check your AFR I run a DL-32.
-
How much does the romraider cost and how much does the ecu editor cost. Is there a difference in the 2? Shoot me a PM. I dont know if you can post prices

they are both free to download.... :D :thumb:..... you just have to buy the programmer?

With a datalogger you can become the tuner :thumb:

Ya, busa or not I will be there for the spring run to get a look see and meet n greet at least.
Too many things have kept me from my goal of building the bike then doing LSR, wife, my work injury etc.
This yr I am overcoming all the obstacles to make my first trip out.
Good news is I live closer to the Cheese Man now ;)
I have not read the entire post, I need to catch up,..
Is this a body kit on your old scoot? or a new one all together?
Seeya soon-
Ron

I'm happy to see that you're making the super ultra a two sport athlete! I don't think there's too many guys racing 1/4 mile and land speed. Keep up the good work and thank you for keeping us posted.

Thanks guys, land speed gear finishing in 3rd gear went 9.64@176mph

That mph is incredible.

thanks, still trying to get a little more
-
What was your 1/8 mile mph.....140 or so?
-
129
-
you must be running big boost on the big end to pick up 47mph on the backhalf
-
typically we see 38-42 mph in the big end with our prostreet bike, with about 23 pounds in total through the traps.
Dave

I'm going through data and my third run last week blew the tire off when clutch locked up was 123 @1/8th and finished 175. Keep in mind that this has a bigger turbo than p/s bikes :thumb:
