Crank & Bearings ?
« on: March 09, 2007, 04:47:31 PM »
This is not being cheap but wanting to know the facts.

I have a cracked upper case from a bone head mistatke by me. I'm in the process of swapping everthing over to a new set of cases.

My old case codes were AAAAB.  My new case codes are AABAA.  My crank code is BBBBB. Old engine had no problem and bearings measure all within spec.

Question?  Would it be okay to just switch the bearings from the original position in the old cases to match the code on the new set of cases?  Essentially taking the middle bearings and moving them to the end of the case and the end bearing and moving to the moddle of the case? 3 of the 5 bearings will nest the original spot of the crank and the other 2 meet spec.

What do you think?
