New Guy Needs Tire Help!
« on: August 08, 2007, 07:13:08 PM »
Hello All I just joined and really like this site. Im currently getting back into riding after  Too many years of cagein. I got a  1992 Suzuki katana 600 as a sort of a basket case. Im taking the local MSF class And want to get this machine on the road. My stock tire sizes are front 110/80-17 and rear 140/80-17 > Im finding very few budget tires in my size. I found some 70 series some 130 /70-17 some 150/70-17 some 160/60-17 Im getting dizzy " Kinda nornal for a old vietnam vet" But even more so! Should I just try to stay with just the same  Excat size? Move up a little bigger? Wider? Im on disability so dont tell me a $175.00 brand tire  some thing safe & sane as Im just getting back into it on country roads no track days! LOL, All suggestions are welcome thanks

Welcome aboard. I would just stay with the sizes that came with the bike. No need to change tire sizes. Just get out and ride and enjoy yourself.  :thumb:

Dunlop makes a very grippy tire, the GT501, but a pair would cost you right at $200 thru MAWonline, AKA, Accesories Warehouse.

Glad I could help.  I also ride CBXs and those 501s really grip well.  I get about 5K out of a rear and twice that for the front.
