Bad night out at track.
« on: November 30, 2008, 01:05:59 AM »
Went back out after 6 month layoff, temp. in the 50's. Running stock motor, with Brocks back torque limter cam.open exhaust,
114 vp race fuel, air shift with MPS kill box,  Front forks reworked and shortented, approx 2inch travel (it's slammed) bike sits maybe 2 inchs off the ground. DragTec street slick. running 55 psi in the front started with 12psi in rear. Launching at about 5 grand, hand clutching. Bike loads up off the line and just boggs down, and I lose all rpm, I know I am doing something wrong. I ran in the high
10's first time out now this pig will barely get out of the 11's WTF,I started to raise the back psi because of temperatue MId 50 degrees. Couldnt make last pass some JO in a stang fox body, hooked so hard he ripped his spool out of the ass end right in front of me while I was in the burnout box. What am I doing wrong guys, I used to let her rip, by handclutching and hazing the tire off the line, now she wont even spin, just boggs down

you might want to check your stack height in the clutch. with the mods you listed the 114vp fuel might be hurting you more than helping you.

114 fuel?   :bah:  What for?   :?  You spraying a 60 shot?

Better check your clutches (they sound burned up or not adjusted stack height wise) and you need to get MR9 or MR11 in that thing.

What is your gearing?  What is your weight?  Check the side stand switch s well...

Run pump gas, put the muffler back on and add 20+psi to the rear tire and try again.

The fuel is killing your tune and their is no need to run the tire at 12psi. If you have a dragtec on a stock bike running high 10's, start out at 35psi or so in it.
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

I got the clutch pack out stack height is 196.66 whats is it supposed to be at, whats good for dragging. I also regeared to 17-45 for my weight, seems to be where everbody seems to think it should be. Could use some help on clutch setup. Got rid of the 114vp going back to M9. Gonna change psi in rear, but when it was hot last summer 12 psi worked great, with the temp. quit a bit lower I'll go 10 psi. up to 25-30. Start there.

Yea, Ill need to feather the clutch a little more, i like to dump and go. My specs are 6' 240lbs, my swing arm is 6 inch over MacIntosh. I was hoping to get lined out on a two step here pretty quick, need to get more info on that. Ive got a MPS autoshift box with a bag of 10k to 10.8k autometer chips That im gonna try out this weekend maybe. Also ive landed some clutch steels to adjust stack height to 1.99 to 2.00 Im going to try that with the .180 spring spacers that came with Brocks clutch mod for torque limter. Pump gas? Thought I would cut down some of the 114vp I still have with pump gas. What you think? 10:1 ratio. I run Sunday I will let you know how we do. wish I would gotten those polyurethane cush dampners, that cuts some time on the 60ft.

Like others have said you don't need 114 race gas unless you have high compression like 13.5 to 1 or higher or with lots of nitrous if your motor is stock compression run pump gas I promise it will go faster and you'll save loads of cash for mods instead of paying through the nose for race gas. You can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink it.

mrx01 gas
17/47 gear
run 3 ape heavysprings 3 stock
put baffle back in for torque
bring rpms up to 6000 to start and feather clutch and go to full throttle as fast as you can
most of all practice until you find the sweet spot of your set up with your weight and set up 9.80 at least
