10" Slick on a stock frame??
« on: February 09, 2009, 01:55:06 AM »
Has anyone fitted a 10" slick to a standard frame?

Thinking with custom swingarm braced to the frame, strut, and either offset sprocket or jack shaft and gearbox output shaft support.
And barred.

Wondering how  it might go down the strip?

Engrish?

I get tired of seeing the same old boring, copycat setups. I'm going out on a limb on my new chassis setup, that I don't think anyone is running. May work, may not....building and testing is the fun part for me. Some people are happy with a stock bike to each his own. :thumb:

cstraubs1 thanks for the link.

As for the why I'm looking at building a chromolly arm and thought why not a 10" more grip than a 7".
Not for any class of racing just soething different to build.

Lets see some pics Bobby.
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

I'm using the rigid backhalf with bars & a 7 inch slick,with a gt35r for propulsion...    Basically,its Terry McIntosh's Factory Extreme setup/design.Cut seat rails,prostreet tank & tail.

On the Northwest tracks a 7" slick won't hold over 330 hp on nitrous. I hold the west coast nitrous prostreet/outlaw record 7.80 @ 180mph spinning the tire hard when I try to put more power down. I am in the process of back halfing my chassis now. 10" prostock tire.

Are you running the chian on the outside of the frame or can it still be run on the inside?

It will have a 2 1/2" off set sprocket with outboard bearing support outside of the frame. I'm setting it up so I can unbolt the whole back half and put the swingarm and 7" slick and suspension back on in 1-2 hours. I plan to run it no bar to see what it will run with the added traction. Then I will install the bars and turn it up and hang on :)

You would have to run a jackshaft like the showbike widetire kits,to run the chain on the inside of the frame.

Looking good Bobby....Speaking of "outside the box", I know a guy who widened a stock rear wheel and ran a drag radial for cars a few years ago....
