3 wire connector to the stator got hot....why?

Just noticed that 3 wire connector from the stator got hot enough to deform the plastic. It also looks like the wires got warm an inch or so past the connector.

What would of caused this???

Seems like the spades in the connector are solid.

I am running a much higher current draw then OEM....but supplement with batteries.
Any thoughts????

The connections and wire sizes for the stator to rectifier are notoriously undersized on most bikes, including the busa. Clean the terminals well and put some sort of electrical grease on them to make them less prone to corrosion. Alternatively, remove the connectors and as much of the wire as possible, and re-wire from the stator to teh rectifier with 10 gauge wire.

Looks like thats what I am going to do but it kills me....

I take a back up engine with me and can do an engine swap in an hour by myself.
I like the idea of being able to unplug everything with no cutting but sometimes ya got to bite the bullet.

Replace them on both motors with a good quality waterproof connector
salt and spade terminals are not compatable
