24 volt for starter
« on: September 03, 2011, 06:16:45 PM »
i was just woundering how many of you guys run a two battery 24 volt for the starter, on a everyday street bike, I meen every day to and from work, hot doging around on weekends, maybe a short road trip now and then, what i would like to know is does the starter stay good with the extra juice going into it ? I realize it would not stay as a stock setup would, but i just would not want to be putting a starter on every 6 months
The older you get do you notice you start chickening out way before the bike does

remove the wire from the starter relay to the top of the starter
connect it to the positive of the second battery
from the negitive of the second battery go to the top of the starter....done

I ran mine for 3/4 of a season to see how long I could go without charging the second battery

finally I charged it cause I felt guilty
I ran it for three years like that
now I am turbo and still using the same starter
It does not harm the starter at all
DaveO proved that

I am running two batteries on my daily rider. Its the only way I can shut it off to get gas and expect it to start again.
