I need to put a different fuel pressure regulator on my Gen 1 turbo busa but need someone to tune it.  Someone told me about a shop in Fremont, Bay Area Racing, but there's a lot of bad reviews on it on Google and Yelp.

Trying to keep from having to go all the way to Scott Horner's place in Utah, but I will if I can't find someone close by San Jose.

Changing from what to what?

Changing from a Bell Engineering Rising Rate Fuel pressure regulator to this one from RCC Turbos.  The Bell unit makes the most god awful screeching sound.

If it was tuned with a rising rate and you are just changing to a different one
set your static fuel pressure the same
set the bleed so 10 PSI rises the same as the noisy one.....done

the only two adjustment there are on them

This is my first turbo bike, and I didn't build it.  That said,I'm an experience bike mechanic.  Can you elaborate a little bit more about the steps in detail?  I'd love to do it myself.  I'd order the new regulator tomorrow if I thought I could do it?

Looking at RCC's site, it indeed does appear as to only have base pressure and rate of rise as the adjustments.  How can I tell where the old unit is set?  I guess I need to pop the tank and take a close look at it.

Bleed screw
count the number of turns from all the way in

Or E-mail Richard From RCC   he can probably tell you exactly how many turns
if it does not tell you in his directions

OR put a gauge on it, check the static pressure,   add 10psi to the port and read what the fuel pressure goes up to
set the new one the same

My static base pressure is 39 psi.

I emailed him, and he said to bench test it if I could, which really isn't possible.  He also said I could do it using the digital fuel pressure gauge the bike has on it now.  My main question is how to determine the rate of rise on the old unit so that I can set the new one the same.

I just ordered the new unit from RCC's website.

Thanks again for your input.

UM?   rising rate.
Check static of the old one    (38)check the fuel pressure of the old one at your tuned boost level  (ie  7psi compressed air to the hose..cycle key  read pressure)

set the new one the same

easy peasy     don't even know what peasy is
