2000 FUEL LINE ISSUE
« on: January 28, 2024, 02:35:14 PM »
Has anyone else had this problem? On my 2000 (external fuel pump) the return fuel line pops off due to the deterioration of the line from today's ethanol blended fuels. I have had this happen 3 times over the years, last year almost resulting in a crash as the fuel was dumping all over in front of my rear tire. I have replaced the factory spring clamps with good quality screw type F.I. clamps, and it still happens. I have replaced both fuel lines several times over the years with OEM lines. On the return line spigot on the tank, there is not much of a barb there. Is it possible to flare out the barb any bigger? I have not flared anything before, so I am not sure this is possible? I was also thinking of maybe building a new spigot with a bigger flared end and press fitting it over the existing spigot.

Also, has anyone found good quality ethanol resistant fuel lines?

Thanks for any help!

Cool, thanks for the info and vid! I have thought about A/N style fittings/braided hose, just not sure how I could hook them up to the stock pump fittings and spigot on the tank? I'm guessing I'd have to go to an aftermarket pump and regulator that is set up for A/N ?
